Summary[]

Hakkai tells Takemichi he cannot change anything (manga)

Hakkai tells Takemichi he cannot change anything

Takemichi tells Taiju that he will take control of the Black Dragons if he wins. In response, Taiju punches him once more, but Takemichi declares that he is not done yet. Hakkai screams for him to stop, as he cannot change anything.

As the fight continues, Takemichi thinks back to his life before the time leap: he was isolated and had no one around him.[2] He tells Hakkai that he is wrong, as Hakkai is the one who cannot change. Continuing his thoughts, Takemichi thinks back to when he swore to change the future after Akkun's death,[3] determined to bear the burden alone. In his time in the past, he gained the friendship and acceptance of numerous people through his actions, from preventing Mikey and Draken's fight[4] and saving Draken's life,[5] to his nomination as First Division Captain.[6] He remembers the trust people hold in him, such as Baji[7] and Chifuyu[8] bestowing Toman onto him.

Amidst these thoughts, Chifuyu implores Takemichi to stop fighting Taiju, telling him that he will die if he continues. Takemichi believes that the future may not necessarily change if he continues fighting, but if there is a small chance of that happening, he will continue to risk his life. Just then, he and Taiju simultaneously punch each other in the face. Takemichi is thrown backward by the force, while Taiju remarks that Takemichi's punch did not even hurt. However, to Taiju's shock, he falls onto his knees. As Takemichi unsteadily gets up, Hakkai begs him to stop. With a beaten and bloody face, he tells Hakkai that fighting on is not painful; what hurts more than anything is loneliness. Takemichi tells Hakkai that he can talk to him about anything since they are friends; falling onto his knees and crying, Hakkai asks Takemichi to help him, and Takemichi tells Hakkai to leave it to him.
