"Mother figure" is the sixth chapter of the 12th volume and the 103rd chapter overall of the Tokyo卍Revengers manga series, written and illustrated by Ken Wakui.
Summary[]
Yuzuha thinks back to when she was younger. In the hospital, her mother asks if she loves her father. Yuzuha says that she does not know, as she does not talk to him due to him never being home. Her mother apologizes and tells Yuzuha she will protect her. As she hugs her mother, Yuzuha tells her not to worry about what is happening at home, and to get well from her illness. Her mother died shortly after.

Yuzuha visits her mother's grave
Visiting her mother's grave, Yuzuha tells her mother about Hakkai starting elementary school. Yuzuha says not to worry, as she will protect her family. Crying, she hopes that her mother will hug her again someday; her face is revealed to be beaten and bruised.

Yuzuha takes Hakkai's punishment
After the death of their mother, Taiju began abusing his siblings daily. On one occasion, Taiju demands to know who forgot to turn off the bathroom light; to protect Hakkai, Yuzuha takes responsibility. However, Taiju asks why Yuzuha is lying, as only boys put down the toilet seat. When Taiju pulls Hakkai away to punish him, Yuzuha begs Taiju to give her Hakkai's punishments instead.[2] Because Yuzuha has protected Hakkai alone for years, she did not hesitate when Kisaki asked her to do so once more.

Yuzuha feels the presence of her mother
As she watches the others fighting the Black Dragons for the sake of saving Hakkai, Yuzuha realizes that she is not alone. In her flashback, she cries as she promises to protect Hakkai in their mother's place. Meanwhile, Hakkai catches Takemichi when Taiju punches him; Hakkai exclaims that he will protect Yuzuha if it is the last thing he does. Tearing up, Yuzuha watches as Hakkai and Takemichi charge Taiju. She envisions her mother hugging her once more, and she asks if Yuzuha is alone.

Black Dragon gains the upper hand
Chifuyu, having fought Inupi, falls to the ground with an injured leg, while Mitsuya, fighting Kokonoi, takes a knee from his exhaustion. Takemichi staggers from his injuries, and Taiju tells Hakkai that he is an idiot, as he will end up losing everything. Hakkai tells him to shut up and learn his lesson in Hell. Just then, Hakkai remarks that he is starting to hear things. However, it is not just a hallucination: the sound of Mikey's CB250T approaches the church.
