Takemichi tells Mikey he has not changed
After Mikey requests that Takemichi kill him as a way to end his dream, a confused Takemichi tells him to stop, as he only wanted to see Mikey again. Trying to provoke him, Mikey remarks that Hakkai said something similar before he died. In a flashback, Hakkai is restrained in a burning building; Mikey is standing before him. Hakkai says that he just wanted to have a good time with everyone, just one last time. Mikey tells Takemichi that it was difficult to achieve his goals, but when he killed someone for the first time, he felt nothing. Instead, he found killing as an easy solution to most of the world's problems. Shaking him, Takemichi tells Mikey that he can tell that he has not changed from twelve years ago. Mikey tells him to stop, and slams Takemichi onto the ground, pressing a gun to his cheek.

Chifuyu's last words to Mikey
Looking into Takemichi's eyes, Mikey thinks back to when he killed Chifuyu; when asked if he has any last words, Chifuyu asks Mikey if he remembers Takemichi, who will come back looking for Mikey someday. He tells Mikey that Takemichi will look like how he did twelve years ago, as if he traveled through time. Smiling, he tearfully requests that Mikey look Takemichi in the eyes, as they do not lie and he can believe him.

Mikey presents the ultimatum
As he cries, Mikey tells Takemichi to pick up the gun, presenting him with an ultimatum: one of them has to die. He tells Takemichi that they cannot bring back the past, and a shot rings out.
