Naoto notices Mikey's gun safety
Naoto shoots Mikey in the head; when he cautions Takemichi to stay away from Mikey, Naoto then notices the safety of Mikey's gun was on, meaning that he never intended to kill Takemichi in the first place. Mikey thanks Naoto for shooting him, as he says that Takemichi probably could not have been able to kill him.

Takemichi tells Mikey he will change the future
He tells Takemichi that his life was nothing but pain; Takemichi tells him not to say something so depressing, as he will change things by going back to the past and ensuring a bad future does not happen. He swears he will never give up. Mikey laughs, thanking Takemichi for trying to comfort him in his dying moments, even if Takemichi is lying.

Mikey dying in Takemichi's arms
Before he dies, he remarks that Takemichi's hand is warm. Crying, Takemichi remembers the many moments they shared together, from when they first met,[2] to when Mikey told him he was strong.[3] Holding Mikey's body in his arms, a determined look flashes across Takemichi's face.
