Mitsuya and Draken visit the mural (manga)

Mitsuya and Draken visit the mural

Riding alongside Draken, Mitsuya speculates that Toman will be in a conflict soon. Draken says that if it occurs, they will be there to fight as Toman's Twin Dragons. As Mitsuya scratches his head, Draken says that the Twin Dragons bring back memories of when they first met, and Mitsuya says that he remembers it well. Mitsuya says that was the only time he ran away from home; nostalgic, Draken is reminded of karubi-don and dragons. He asks if Mitsuya wants to revisit something, but Mitsuya says that it probably got erased years ago. Draken reassures him, and they find a faded but intact dragon mural. Mitsuya recollects the night he spray-painted that mural.

While spray-painting, Mitsuya thinks about his sisters, Luna and Mana, who he left alone. As he wonders if they are okay, a voice behind him, Draken compliments the mural. Mitsuya is surprised and unnerved by Draken's presence, as he appears to be a delinquent with a piercing. Draken offers some of his karubi-don to Mitsuya, whose stomach growls. As Mitsuya eats, they introduce themselves; Draken remarks that Mitsuya's parents must be worried that a kid like him is on the streets at night, much to Mitsuya's annoyance, as Draken is a kid as well. Draken notices Mitsuya has eaten all of his karubi-don and Mitsuya apologizes, as he has not eaten since morning. Draken decides to take ownership of the mural in exchange for the karubi-don, although Mitsuya is unsure of what he means.

Draken invites Mitsuya over to his home, and Mitsuya is shocked to find he lives in a brothel. He ends up playing poker with the girls there and wins several rounds. Draken says he gets ¥1000 if he wins, but has to massage the girls if he loses. Mitsuya glances up at a clock, and when Draken asks him what is wrong, Mitsuya says Draken is lucky, as he has to take care of his sisters to help his working mother. The girls reassure him. Smiling, Mitsuya says he wants to live at the brothel as well; unexpectedly, one of the girls kicks him in the face and tells him to go home and not mooch off of them.

Outside, as they walk together, Draken tells Mitsuya that the girls are not working at the brothel because they want to. He asks if Mitsuya likes his mother's cooking, and Mitsuya says that because she does not do it often, her food tastes bad. Smiling, Draken says he likes that, much to Mitsuya's confusion. Explaining that he does not have parents, Draken says that he wishes he was able to say their cooking tasted bad. He tells Mitsuya to go home, as he has clearly been worried about his sisters; before he bids him goodbye, Draken tells Mitsuya that being a delinquent would not suit him, as he is a good person. As Mitsuya watches Draken walk away, he feels as if Draken saw right through him.

A month later, Mitsuya finds Draken and declares that he wants to stand as an equal with him someday. He reveals a dragon tattoo on his temple, announcing that he will become a delinquent who cares about his family. To each other's surprise, they got the same dragon tattoo; Draken tells Mitsuya to cover up the tattoo, as he traded the art for the karubi-don.

In the present, Mitsuya scratches the side of his head again, reflecting that he has been following Draken ever since that day. He grins as he walks behind Draken.
