Takemichi sees Izana's photo

After Takemichi informs Naoto of his suspicions of Kisaki's time-leaping abilities,[2] Naoto says that Kisaki must be killed, as killing him is the only way to ensure a good future, much to Takemichi's shock. Unexpectedly, Naoto then says he is joking. He says he wonders what Kisaki is doing, as Tenjiku does not exist in the future, and Kisaki is dead.[3] Just as Takemichi wonders if Kisaki failed, he notices a picture of Izana Kurokawa, remembering that Kakucho told him that Izana was the leader of Tenjiku.[4] Naoto explains that Izana is now one of Toman's top members, a former leader of the Black Dragons. Takemichi is surprised, as these facts do not seem to match up with the past. As Naoto plans to investigate Izana through the police network, Takemichi decides to investigate as well.

However, he does not know where to start; he then thinks of Inupi and Kokonoi, both former Black Dragon members. He decides to seek them out to gain information but is unsure as to where they would be. He ends up going to the church where the Christmas Conflict took place; entering the church, he is reminded of the events that took place, from him stopping Yuzuha from killing Taiju,[5] to Kisaki's firing and the absorption of Inupi and Kokonoi under Toman.[6] Even after all this, the future did not change; in fact, it got worse. In frustration, Takemichi exclaims his feelings of powerlessness. A man in a neighboring pew asks him to be quiet, and continues his prayer, saying that after Hakkai died, he started coming to the church every day. This person turns out to be Taiju, who wonders if Hakkai is still a weakling in Heaven. He tells Takemichi that the old members of Toman are all dead, and asks how he has been doing. As he has found a survivor that may give information about Toman's past, Takemichi requests to talk to Taiju about Izana and the Black Dragons.
