Kokonoi reveals he followed Naoto
Kokonoi tells the group that after he heard Naoto was investigating Toman, he followed him to find Takemichi and Taiju, two of his former bosses, in a meeting. Because they have been interfering in Izana's affairs, Inupi tells them they are now enemies of Toman.

Taiju prepares to fight Toman
Taiju laughs, taunting Inupi for clinging to the Black Dragons, and Kokonoi for being the Black Dragons' financial source. He tells Takemichi and Naoto to escape through the back, asking Naoto to investigate Hakkai's death, as he does not believe Mikey perpetrated it; instead, he suspects Izana is the true mastermind. As they leave, Takemichi thanks Taiju, who simply responds that he is paying off a favor. The gang members try to prevent them from escaping, but Taiju jumps to their defense, declaring that he has not fought in a long time. Kokonoi remarks that Taiju is the one stuck in the past.

Naoto sustains a bullet
As he and Naoto run through an alleyway, Takemichi thinks about what Taiju said to Inupi and Kokonoi, wondering if they will be important to learning about Izana. Suddenly he stops, telling Naoto they must go back to get more information about the Kanto Incident from the two. Suddenly, he is faced to face with the barrel of a gun, pointed by Kisaki. As Kisaki orders Takemichi to die, Naoto suddenly shoves Takemichi out of the line of fire, sustaining the bullet himself. Shot in the back, he falls onto the ground.
