"Untamed heart" is the sixth chapter of the 18th volume and the 158th chapter overall of the Tokyo卍Revengers manga series, written and illustrated by Ken Wakui.

Summary

In elementary school, Kokonoi and Inupi are walking home; Akane, Inupi's older sister asks if they want to stop by the library. Looking back on this time, Kokonoi says that he has always loved Akane, offering to carry her bags, even as a child. Hearing this, Akane remarks that Kokonoi is always kind, telling Inupi to be more like him. However, she tells Kokonoi to be careful about being too kind, as that will make his future girlfriend jealous, especially since he is handsome.

Inupi ends up going home, leaving Akane and Kokonoi together at the library, where Akane ends up falling asleep. Kokonoi notes that even though she looks like Inupi, she is pretty; as he leans in to kiss her, Akane suddenly wakes up, rejecting his kiss. She tells him that he should only kiss the person he likes; Kokonoi confesses that he likes her. When Akane points out that she is five years older than him, Kokonoi says that it will not matter when they are both adults. After he walks Akane home, he confesses that he has always loved her, proposing that they get married as adults; after he vows to protect her, she smiles, telling him that she will wait for him.

As Kokonoi walks home, passersby remark that they see smoke from a fire; he recognizes that it came from the Inui house. He finds the house engulfed in flames; when he asks if a girl escaped from the house, witnesses say they did not see anyone. Desperate to save Akane, Kokonoi rushes into the burning building; he emerges carrying someone. As he tries to reassure Akane, it turns out that he saved Seishu instead. At the hospital, Inupi is left with a partially burned face, while Akane has severe, life-threatening burns; Inupi tells a crying Kokonoi that Akane's full medical treatment requires 40 million yen. However, his family cannot afford this, as they still need to pay off their house loan. Kokonoi says he promised to protect Akane, vowing to accrue 40 million yen, even at the cost of his own life.
