"Be left behind the times" is the ninth chapter of the 22nd volume and the 197th chapter overall of the Tokyo卍Revengers manga series, written and illustrated by Ken Wakui.

Although he and Naoto shake hands, Takemichi is shocked to find that he cannot time-leap. Naoto concludes that it is because he has no desire to change the current future, as his goal of saving Hina has been achieved. He hypothesizes that the time-leap will not occur unless both parties have a strong desire to change the past.

Takemichi arrives at Chifuyu's pet store, where he tells Chifuyu of his inability to time-leap. Chifuyu is accepting of these developments, reminding Takemichi that he has already accomplished his mission of saving Hina. Takemichi confides that he wants to meet and talk with Mikey, asking Chifuyu if he knows anything about how Mikey turned evil, as he did not see any signs indicating Mikey would turn down a dark path. Chifuyu said that although he tried to find Mikey after his disappearance, he was unable to; reassuring Takemichi, Chifuyu says it is the path Mikey chose to live. Playfully putting his arm on Takemichi's shoulder, Chifuyu reminds him that he is also walking down a path of his own: his marriage with Hina. He tells relax.

As Takemichi leaves the pet store, pondering his situation, he knows that Mikey has chosen his own path, but feels uneasy as he visualizes Mikey's smiling face. Just then, Kazutora, who overheard the conversation with Chifuyu, tells Takemichi that he cannot accept Mikey's choices. Reflecting on his ten years in detention,[2] Kazutora compares it to the tale of Urashima Tarō, struggling to return to an unfamiliar world; Mikey and Toman are gone, while the rest of his friends are embarking on their own paths. However, Kazutora firmly believes that Mikey has not changed, as Mikey hides his feelings and vulnerability, he suspects that the life Mikey is currently living is not one he chose. Kazutora promises to help Takemichi find Mikey, leaving him hopeful that he can help Mikey, even without time-leaping.

Months later, on June 19, 2015, Akkun gives Takemichi a haircut, while Takemichi laments his lack of progress in finding Mikey. Telling Takemichi not to become stressed, Akkun says that although their friends are looking for information on Bonten, it is hard to come by, as Boten is such a dangerous organization. Takemichi tells Akkun to let their friends stop looking, which surprises Akkun, who asks if Takemichi is giving up. Takemichi swears he will find Mikey no matter how long it will take, as he has learned that he can achieve anything if he does not give up. Suddenly, Takemichi receives a phone call from Hakkai, who is back in Japan.[3] He suggests they open the time capsule.[4]
