Hearing this, Draken announces that he and Takemichi will not be pushed around by the two gangs. When Draken asks Takemichi to back him up on this, Takemichi remembers his promise to save Mikey. He announces that he is uninterested in joining either gang, saying that his sole goal is to defeat Mikey. Although most of the gang members balk in shock at the news, those he faced in the Tenjiku conflict, as well as Akashi, appear unsurprised.

Suddenly, Draken lunges at South with a forceful punch, propelling the large man backward. He tells South that he will have to fight him before getting to Takemichi, saying that he is ready for the second round of their fight. Just as South announces his mutual eagerness to fight, the sound of police sirens interrupts them. As he and his gang retreat, South tells Draken that they will face off next time. Draken replies that he has left his former self behind after Toman's dissolution.[2]

Before he retreats with Brahman, Akashi approaches Draken, apologizing for not intervening. After he pats Draken on the shoulder, this interaction leaves Takemichi confused, wondering about Akashi's relation to Draken. As both gangs retreat, Draken tells Inupi and Takemichi that they should as well.
