"Band of brothers" is the third chapter of the 27th volume and the 236th chapter overall of the Tokyo卍Revengers manga series, written and illustrated by Ken Wakui.
Summary[]
On the rooftop of the hospital, Takemichi and Hina watch the fireworks erupt. Hina recalls their history together, specifically when they watched a firework show two years ago on the rooftop of her apartment complex. Takemichi says that he remembers the memory quite clearly, as he had wanted to hold her hand but ended up holding Naoto's instead on accident.
Takemichi tells Hina that he has worked earnestly to protect her. He adds that he has gained the trust and support of many along the way, hence enlarging the amount of people he wished to rescue. Despite this, Mikey saved everyone in Takemichi's behalf by sacrificing himself. For this reason, Takemichi cannot bear Mikey's decision to pursue the life of a delinquent all alone. He asks Hina if she remembers what she had told him at Musashi Shrine a couple of years ago: he is neither Mikey nor Draken, but himself. Hina flushes at the memory as Takemichi assures that being himself is enough. Determined, he swears that he will lean on the guidance of others and form the best contingent of delinquents to bring Mikey back on their side.
One month later, Takemichi is discharged from the hospital. Having fully recovered from his injuries, he decides that he will now assemble a team. He goes to Pet Shop Palme to recruit Chifuyu in the gang. Chifuyu threatens to beat him up for seeing him right after getting discharged, but Takemichi apologizes and says that he was being foolish during their latest encounter. As Chifuyu prepares to leave out of spite, Takemichi asks him to become a part of his gang to take down Mikey. Chifuyu tells him that he had asked too late and leaves. However, he reveals that he had always been waiting for Takemichi to come forward and walks back to the pet shop to turn in his resignation letter. Takemichi becomes moved to tears and embraces him while Chifuyu scolds him for crying too loudly.
Moments later, the two are walking on a bridge when Chifuyu suggests the name "Thousand Winters" for the gang. Takemichi asks what it means, and Chifuyu tells him that it is the definition of his name in English. Takemichi complains about the length of the name and its pronunciation difficulty, but Chifuyu disregards his quibbles as they walk into the horizon.
