Taiju begins beating Yuzuha to death

Takemichi tells Hakkai to protect Yuzuha
Taiju tells Yuzuha that he will kill her. When she charges at him, Taiju punches her and says that he will slowly beat her to death. Putting himself between them, Takemichi tells Taiju to calm down and says that he is the one tearing his family apart while believing that he cares about them. Hakkai implores Takemichi to stop, warning him that Taiju will kill him. Takemichi tells Hakkai to protect his sister and asks what he is so scared of.
Just then, Taiju punches Takemichi and throws a pew at him, saying that his siblings were the ones trying to hurt him in the first place. Takemichi narrowly avoids the pew and exclaims that trying to kill each other does not make sense. Standing up, Yuzuha tells him that it is the path all of them chose. Thinking back to how Hakkai has been protecting Yuzuha,[2] Takemichi determines that Yuzuha is the key to the events: she killed Taiju in the original timeline after being instigated by Kisaki, but Hakkai took responsibility as the killer. Using this knowledge, Kisaki was able to manipulate Hakkai, who assumed leadership of the Black Dragons, leading to the corruption of Toman.[3]

Yuzuha vows to protect Hakkai
Takemichi declares he has to beat down Taiju, believing that protecting Yuzuha will stop the corruption of Toman. Hakkai tells him that he does not know the full extent of Taiju's violence and strength. Grabbing her knife, Yuzuha tells Takemichi not to get her way, as she will protect Hakkai. However, she was significantly weakened by Taiju's assaults[4] and sways from her dizziness.

Mitsuya prepares to face Taiju
Suddenly, Mitsuya appears, grabbing Yuzuha's blade. As he tells her to let go of the knife, Yuzuha asks what he is doing there. She falls into his arms, and Mitsuya orders Takemichi to watch over her. Facing Taiju, he prepares to fight. Taiju asks what happened to their agreement[5] and taunts Mitsuya for breaking it. Mitsuya says that he will tell Taiju something more important: even if she misbehaves, he should never hit his little sister. Instead, she should be forgiven with a smile, which is what being an older brother is about.
