"Dawning of a new era" is the ninth episode of the second season and the 33rd episode overall of the Tokyo卍Revengers anime series, produced by Liden Films.

Synopsis

Hakkai overcomes his fear of Taiju, which has been ingrained in his mind and body since childhood, and confronts his brother together with Takemichi. However, the gap in strength between him and Taiju was huge, and the church was also surrounded by 100 Black Dragon members. In the overwhelmingly unfavorable situation, Mikey appeared and looked somewhat strange…

Summary

Manjiro wonders what they are doing. He then sees Black Dragon members. Takashi states its all his fault as he broke the truce and they are fighting Black Dragon. Manjiro then states that his brother noticed the sound of Takashi's bike and later Keisuke states that only Takashi's bike purrs so sweetly. Manjiro states that his brother and Keisuke led him here, causing Takashi to wonder what is he talking about.

Taiju knocks down Manjiro

Manjiro asks Taiju why is he interfering as he just wants to ride with his guys again. And if Takashi dies, it will just made his brother and Keisuke sad. Takemichi then recalls Tetta's words that Manjiro is weak right now and that he won't last much longer. He also recalls Kazutora stating that Manjiro had changed and doesn't trust his friends anymore. In an instant, Taiju then punches and knocks down Manjiro. That sight, shocks everyone. Taiju then laughs that he beat the Invincible Mikey. Takashi runs towards Taiju, but stops as he sees Manjiro standing up, stating that the prayer time is over. Seishu advices Manjiro to not fight Taiju as he is no match for him.

Seishu recalls that after he was released from South Kanto Reform School, the ninth generation of Black Dragon had already ended. Hajime waits for him and explains that Tokyo Manji Gang crushed Black Dragon. Seishu wants to revive the Black Dragon, but Hajime tells him that those who told him to lead the next generation are already gone and things have changed. Seishu still doesn't care and intends to still revive Black Dragon even if he is doing it alone. Hajime then tells him that there is a beast at his school and with his strength he may be able to revive the gang. Seishu gets annoyed hearing that with this guy he may be able to, and guesses that if he is able to beat him, then he already have the power to revive them.

Seishu losing to Taiju

Hajime brings Seishu to Taiju, who intends to beat him and not recruit him. Seishu challenges Taiju, having never lost before. But as he faces Taiju, he faces his first defeat as Taiju is far stronger. Seishu recognizes Taiju as the boss. Taiju agrees to rebuild Black Dragon and in return, he makes Hajime also serve him. Taiju then produced the money to make new Black Dragon uniforms.

Manjiro defeating Taiju

Taiju states he punched Manjiro with all his strength, but guesses one punch wasn't enough for him. Takemichi doesn't believe that Manjiro has a chance and guesses he still haven't overcome the loss of the people who were precious to him. Manjiro then states that the punch from Taiju was his punishment for himself. In an instant, Manjiro jumps and the kicks Taiju, taking him down. Everyone is shocked, including Seishu and Hajime, as they can't believe Taiju got beat with a single blow. Manjiro states that for Christmas, he always rides with his brother and Keisuke. He then takes out Keisuke's charm, and explains that while he rides on his brother's bike and wears Keisuke's good luck charm, he feels like he is with them. Takemichi realizes he speaks about mementos and haven't lost his mind. Manjiro states that everyone are in his heart, which is why he can be strong. Takemichi then realizes that Manjiro will be fine and won't turn evil.

Ken defeats Taiju's soldiers

Taiju stands up, stating things aren't over. He tells Hajime to bring the 100 people from outside as Manjiro is fighting them next. Taiju then states he ain't losing to anyone. Manjiro states that Black Dragon are powerful, but he will never create a new age. He is a good fighter, but doesn't have a heart. Toman are the ones who will build a new age and he just needs to sit and watch them. Taiju gets angry and asks Hajime were are his soldiers. Hajime can't believe his eyes and states they have lost. Taiju then comes out and falls on his knees, unable to understand what have happened. Having defeated all of his 100 soldiers, Ken sits on the church stairs and wonders if they are also done.

Inside, Takemichi and the rest are preparing to fight 100 soldiers. Ken then enters and wonders why are they so tense. Ken then tells Manjiro that all men outside are defeated. Taiju had lost to Manjiro, lost his men and lost his will to fight. Manjiro then states that Black Dragon are dead and everyone is happy that Toman won. Seeing the defeated men outside, Takashi states that the strongest beasts are actually Manjiro and Ken. Takemichi is happy that that Christmas is over and no one died. Takemichi then collapses and Takashi takes him on his back. He states that they won thanks to Manjiro and Ken, but today's hero is Takemichi.

Seishu tells Taiju that they are done, although they had a nice dream. He wonders what Hajime intends to do and Hajime states he is obviously sticking with him. As everyone leaves, Hakkai and Yuzuha remain with Taiju. Hakkai asks Taiju how it feels to lose for the first time. As Taiju is though, Hakkai knows he will recover quickly, but he and Yuzuha will never submit to him again. Hakkai admits that it was wrong to try and kill Taiju, but as long as he keeps beating on his family, he will continue to fight. Hakkai leaves and Yuzuha tells Taiju that if he doesn't change after this, then he is a fool. After their mother's death, he never talked about her. He blames himself and was alone all this time. Yuzuha also believed she is alone. She hates him so much that she wanted to kill him, however she also loves him.

Takemichi wakes up on the back of Manjiro's bike. Manjiro tells him to hold and be careful not to fall. Takemichi wonders about the rest, but Manjiro explains that they had left. Manjiro takes him to where Hinata lives. Takemichi then sees Hinata waiting for them.
