S.S MOTOR, or S.S MOTORS in the anime, was a bike shop founded and owned by Shinichiro Sano.

Description[]

Before its closure, S.S MOTOR was a bike shop that housed numerous motorbikes of various brands. It had the CB250T on display in front of the establishment. It was said that Tokyo's famous delinquents often came by to watch Shinichiro Sano, its founder and owner, work on the motorbikes.[1]

Years later, the abandoned building was transformed into a hideout by Hajime Kokonoi and Seishu Inui. Its frontier is covered in graffiti while its interior is neatly adorned to accommodate like a small living space.

Plot[]

Valhalla Arc[]

Kazutora hits Shinichiro (manga)

Kazutora hits Shinichiro

On August 13, 2003, exactly one week before Manjiro Sano's thirteenth birthday, Kazutora Hanemiya and Keisuke Baji drive to S.S MOTOR to gift Mikey the CB250T, a motorbike no one has owned before by breaking in the shop and stealing the vehicle.[2] Baji heavily disagrees with Kazutora's idea, stating that Mikey would not be delighted with their actions, but Kazutora reasons that they could merely get away with it by lying. He states that middle schoolers like them have no means of owning a CB250T, thus leaving them with the only option which is to steal.[3]

Around three in the morning, both teenagers break in the shop and inspect the motorbike,[4] successfully breaking its back wheel free from the chain lock.[5] As Kazutora runs to open the shutters, Baji pushes the motorbike off the elevated platform and flaunts over Mikey's birthday.[6] However, he is eventually caught by an employee who he recognizes as a man named Shinichiro. Baji asks him what he is doing in the shop so late, and Shinichiro reveals that he is the shop owner. Suddenly, Kazutora appears behind the two and ambushes him.[7]

As Shinichiro falls to the ground, Baji rushes to his aid and reveals that the shop owner is Shinichiro Sano, Mikey's older brother.[8] He plans to call an ambulance and escape with Kazutora, but the latter is in disbelief, refusing to admit his fault in the incident and voicing his plan to kill Mikey as a result of Shinichiro's death.[9] To their dismay, the cops arrive before they can leave and the both of them are arrested.[10] In the growing crowd of onsite spectators, Mikey appears and asks Baji about what happened in the store.[11]

Tenjiku Arc[]

After getting abducted by Yasuhiro Muto and losing to him in a battle, Takemichi Hanagaki and Seishu Inui find comfort in the abandoned S.S MOTOR building to properly tend to their wounds.[12] As they patch themselves up, Inupi tells Takemichi about his dream to revive Black Dragon. He explains that, for this reason, he built a cherished friendship with Hajime Kokonoi, who was recently coerced into joining Tenjiku to rescue Inupi from getting killed.[13] He reveals that he would die for Koko's sake, so out of desperation, he begs Takemichi to become the 11th Generation Black Dragon leader and save Koko from Tenjiku.[14]

Inupi recounts his time in S.S MOTOR

Later on, Inupi reveals that his and Koko's hideout used to be Shinichiro's bike shop. He describes its interior and Shinichiro's work habit of tuning a bike in the middle of the store, where Inupi sat and watched. At the same time, countless of Tokyo's well-respected delinquents would drop by and watch him work all day.[15] Inupi calls Shinichiro his hero, and Takemichi realizes that his fixation on reviving Black Dragon is because of his deep attachment to and close relationship with him.[16] As Shinichiro's follower, he wished to recreate the works and wonders of the First Generation, but failed once Izana Kurokawa came into power in leading the Eighth Generation. Inupi regretfully recalls their heinous activities, from selling drugs and committing robbery to landing himself in a detention center.[17] Once he was released from juvie, Black Dragon was destroyed, which led him to seek the leadership of Taiju Shiba and rebuild the gang with him as the reigning leader of the 10th Generation.[18]

After hearing Inupi's story, Takemichi empathizes with him.[19] He then declares himself as the 11th leader of Black Dragon while being the First Division Captain of the Tokyo Manji Gang.[20] He promises Inupi that he will rescue Koko from Tenjiku and defeat Izana and the gang. Shocked, Inupi lays his life on his shoulders, and shares a handshake with him.[21]

In one of Izana's childhood flashbacks, Izana visits S.S MOTOR to invite Shinichiro out for a ride on his bike. Izana meets a young Inupi watching Shinichiro work.[22]
