Sugoaku (
Description[]
Sugoaku is an average-sized ramen shop located in Tokyo. Its concept revolves around the Kawata twins' signature insignia and is known for its good ratings.[2]
Plot[]
Bonten Arc[]
As Takemichi Hanagaki time leaps back to the present at Haruki Hayashida's wedding reception, he receives word that Nahoya and Souya Kawata run a ramen shop together called Sugoaku.[3] Angry invites him over to the restaurant. The next day at Takashi Mitsuya's studio, Mitsuya tells Yuzuha and Hakkai Shiba to stop by at Sugoaku before their departure to France. Hakkai applauds the restaurant's good reputation, but teasingly voices his doubts about eating ramen specifically made by the Kawata twins.[4]
A few days later, Takemichi and Hinata Tachibana are at Sugoaku for a meal. As Hina talks about their wedding plans, Takemichi spaces out and thinks about a familiar tattoo pattern he saw earlier from a confidential footage of the criminal organization Bonten on national television.[5] Angry serves their food and Takemichi recognizes the Tokyo Manji Gang commemorative photo they took twelve years ago that the twins had put up in their shop. As they briefly recall their memories in the gang, Takemichi laments how he could not meet Manjiro Sano in the present and asks if he has been doing well.[6] Smiley tells him that he has no clue, while Angry says that he has not seen him for over a decade.[7] In shock, Takemichi turns to Hina and notices the cling-clang of her earrings, then realizes that the tattoo he saw on TV earlier was patterned after Izana Kurokawa's Hanafuda earrings.[8] Takemichi fretfully leaves the shop and visits D&D Motors to confront Ken Ryuguji about the situation.[9]
Trivia[]
- The restaurant name "Sugoaku" is written with the Kanji words for "twin" (双) and "evil" (悪).
- Due to Smiley and Angry being known as twins who were feared as incredible fighters, Sugoaku shares the same name with the Twin Devils Gang, a team formed by the Kawata brothers before they joined the Tokyo Manji Gang.
