Takemichi Hanagaki and Kakucho vs. Haruchiyo Sanzu is a battle between Second Generation Tokyo Manji Gang President Takemichi Hanagaki with Kanto Manji Gang Defense Unit Captain Kakucho and Kanto Manji Gang Vice President Haruchiyo Sanzu.
Introduction[]
Kakucho lends Takemichi a hand
Takemichi is punched by Kakucho and falls to the ground. As he gets back up, he grabs the railroad track and sees a vision of Toman and Kanto members being run over by a train and Sanzu as perpetrator behind it.[1][2] Fearing for his friends' lives, Takemichi runs from Kakucho towards Sanzu's location. Kakucho becomes confused and chases after him, asking to hold it. He grabs him by the collar and throws him back to explain what is going on. Takemichi tells Kakucho to move or else everyone will die. With the latter still confused, Takemichi describes what will happen.[3][4]
Meanwhile, Sanzu is on the train trying to find a way to start it. As he figured out how to start it, Sanzu hears Takemichi call him with Kakucho. The former asks why are they here, while Kakucho is shocked how Sanzu's plan is exactly how Takemichi described it.[4] He offers Takemichi a hand in stopping Sanzu, calling a truce in the process.[5]
Battle[]
Kakucho and Haruchiyo charge at each other
Sanzu explains how he formulated his plan by visiting the freight yard before the battle. Kakucho backfires on it saying that Kanto Manji would get caught up in the wreckage. Sanzu responds by describing everyone but Mikey as noise to him. He then charges at Takemichi with a katana in his hand with the intent to kill him. Kakucho swiftly pushes him out of the way and takes the slice on his left arm. He then questions Sanzu if Mucho was also "noise" and if he killed him.[6] Then he takes off his coat in response to his injury, also revealing he never liked Sanzu since their time in Tenjiku.[7]
Kakucho and Sanzu begin charging at each other afterwards. Sanzu swings his katana again, but Kakucho parries the attack with his coat and counters by landing a punch on his face. Kakucho recalls the car accident that killed his parents back in his third year of elementary. Being the sole survivor, he threw away his family name and tackled life alone until he met Izana and reuniting with Takemichi. He affirms that he is fighting for Takemichi's sake. Kakucho continues to block Sanzu's slashes while returning the attacks. Unfortunately, Sanzu finally slashes Kakucho on his chest which brings him to his knees.[8][9]
Takemichi fights Haruchiyo
Takemichi rushes to Kakucho and asks if he is okay. Kakucho replies that he is fine and that the slash was a shallow scratch. He then tells him to stop Sanzu, where he got back on the train. Sanzu says he does not care if there's a battle as he would not allow anyone t hand over Mikey. Takemichi gets on the train in anger and tries to punch him. Sanzu grabs both of his arms, smugly telling him that he cannot stop the train. Takemichi responds to him, calling his actions crazy. Sanzu tells him to shut up and that he will kill him too. He then questions how he knew about his plan and that he did not tell anyone about it. Suddenly, Kakucho reaches the trains and quickly orders Takemichi to duck.[10]
Kakucho hits Sanzu on the head with a wrench which briefly knocks him down. He tells Takemichi to get the brakes and the latter searches the train controls. He sees a vision where he is stabbed from behind by Sanzu. Takemichi hastily dodges Sanzu's katana and the latter is shocked. In pure disbelief, Sanzu asks if Takemichi is a time leaper. Kakucho then angrily charges at Sanzu, managing to hold him before he cuts Takemichi, successfully throwing him out of the train.[11]
Result[]
Kakucho throws Takemichi
Sanzu is thrown off the train by Kakucho after unsuccessfully trying to stab Takemichi with his katana. However, the train continues to move towards the rest of Kanto and Toman in front of them. Kakucho desperately asks Takemichi to stop the train, as he sees it become fast enough to derail. Takemichi cannot find the brake and asks Kakucho to help. Seeing his selflessness and that both of them will die soon, Kakucho throws Takemichi off the train to stop the train himself. Fortunately, he is able to stop the train, albeit sacrificing his life in the process.[12]
