TOKYO REVENGERS WIKI POLICIES

Manual of Style · Image Policy · Behavior Policy · Blocking Policy

This is the Tokyo Revengers Wiki's Image Policy, which describes the acceptable guidelines for the usage and uploading and deleting processes of images on the wiki. These rules are based on the One Piece Wiki's Image Guildines and the Bungo Stray Dogs Wiki's Image Policy.

Usage

The wiki as a whole is an encyclopedia and documentary of the Tokyo Revengers manga series, as well as its derivative works. That said, images are collectively one of the most valuable elements on the wiki, and must be used to:

  1. Give life to articles and illustrate what often is hard to describe in words;
  2. Show the appearance of a character, location, organization, object, and the like on their respective pages;
  3. Visually depict valuable events and scenes from the original source; and
  4. Reinforce the delivery of text, especially from the main namespace, to improve its comprehension to readers.

Acceptable Images

  • Cropped panels and pages from the manga and screenshots from the anime
    • In the case of the manga, images must be uploaded with NO text. This includes text in speech and thought bubbles, translator notes, and English translations of sound effects.
      • Generally, all text must be blanked out EXCEPT for Japanese sound effects and text that are inherently part of the illustration. Given this exception, the Japanese raw versions must be used, and not the official English or fan-translated versions.
    • In the case of the anime, images must NOT contain subtitles, watermarks, or editor credits.
  • Only .gif or .png file extensions are allowed. This is the standard requirement for the wiki system as stated under "File Type", and other formats like .BMP are not supported by FANDOM.

GIF Animations

  • GIF format must only be used in the case of an animated image from the anime. Static images, such as a panel from the manga or a screenshot from the anime, should be uploaded in PNG format instead.
  • GIF format must only be used for a scene that is best described through animation than a static or still image. Examples include fight scenes and Takemichi's time-leaping ability.
  • GIFs should NOT take up most of the article.
  • A maximum of three GIFs per article is recommended to avoid frequent slowdowns.

Unacceptable Images

  • Leaks
  • Collages
  • Low-quality scans
  • Fan-works of any form
  • Presence of a filter or any other image manipulation
  • Images in a format that is not .png and .gif
  • Images with any kind of English scan-lated (scanned and translated) text
  • Images with no connection to Tokyo Revengers
  • Images with watermarks
  • Images with porn or nudity per Terms of Use

Keep in mind that uploading unacceptable images is considered vandalism, just like the import of fallacious text in articles. That said, remember that unacceptable images can be deleted at any point without warning by an Administrator.

Images in User Profiles

Uploading an image for the sole reason of displaying it on one's user profile is not allowed. Please upload the image on another site and import it here instead. This is for the purpose of housekeeping and categorization.

If one wishes to use an image on their profile, it is advisable to use what is on the wiki instead.

Uploading

File Size

FANDOM only accepts file uploads with a maximum file size of 10 MB. This includes images.

File Type

The PNG file type is strongly preferred over other formats. JPGs or JPEGs are not allowed. Updates to FANDOM servers have caused .jpgs to become pixilated when viewed as thumbnails in articles, even when the full-size image has high quality. On the contrary, PNGs will not compress or become pixelated when viewed at any size.

This restriction is also due to the automatic image placement system by several of the wiki's templates. Some examples are the {{Character Infobox}} and {{Chapter Infobox}}, which both require the image to be in .png format for it to be automatically added to the infobox.

File Name

  • No random string of letters, words, or numbers.
  • Always put spaces in between words.
  • The file name must briefly describe the events of the image and indicate which continuity it is from.
For example, the image below is named "Kiyomasa lands a kick on Takemichi's face (manga).png". (Click on the image to view the file name.) The name reflects the event in the panel and the manga continuity is indicated at the end.

The photo below is an example of a correct file name with an indicated anime continuity.

  • In some cases, there must be a uniform file name for all the images under a certain category. This is often observed in the {{Character Infobox}}, {{Chapter Infobox}}, and {{Organization Infobox}} templates. The required file names are indicated in the template documentation.
  • Use the name that the character is more known for unless stated otherwise. For example, use "Mikey" for images with Manjiro Sano and "Draken" for Ken Ryuguji.

Licensing

Most images here are copyrighted and used as fair use. The majority of image copyrights are held by Ken Wakui, Kodansha, Kodansha USA, and/or Liden Films.

  • If the image comes from the manga or other derivative work/s considered as print media, add the {{Fairuse}} template.
  • If the image comes from the anime adaptation, add the {{Screenshot}} template.

Categorization

All images must be properly categorized. The following are the common categories:

  • "Chapter # Images"/"Episode # Images"
  • "<Character Name> Images"

Deleting

An unacceptable image will be deleted once it is reviewed by an Administrator or Content Moderator and replaced with a better version. An image that does not serve a purpose in the first place will be deleted with no exception.

Editors may request for an image to be deleted by instantly approaching any of the wiki's staff members and explaining the situation. It is also highly encouraged to add the image or file to the Candidates for deletion category so that it is easier to track. Appropriate actions will be taken once the request is made.

Notes

Image Replacement

Any image on a page can be replaced by uploading a new image with the same file type. Editors do not need permission or explanation to replace an image. However, what is considered a better image may not be considered a better image by others. Please also remember that replacing an image from the manga with its counterpart is acceptable, however, a manga image must not be replaced with another manga image of lower quality. Likewise, do not replace an anime image with another anime image of lower quality. This risks the file getting deleted.
If a protected image is in need of replacement, it is worth asking if it should be replaced in the first place on its talk page.
Anyone can upload a new version of an image by going to its page. Under "File history", click "Upload a new version of this file". Note that for this to work, the new version must have the same file type as the old version, that is, .png.

Duplicate Images

This occurs when the same image is uploaded twice or more under a different name. All versions of this image except for the first will be deleted.

Image Wars

This occurs when editors constantly change images on a page from one version to another. In the event of constant reverts, the most useful or related image to its intended use will be chosen. In some cases, wherein neither image is satisfactory, both images may be rejected for another image. If you think that the other editors are making a bad choice, there is a choice to argue the point of the image by backing it up with support from the guidelines listed on this page. If an image war continues, an Administrator will protect the page.

Placement and Presentation

In-article

Images used in articles must be positioned alternately left and right, NEVER center unless necessary. If Image A is right-aligned, then Image B must be left-aligned. Subsequently, Image C would be right-aligned, Image D left-aligned, and so on and so forth.

Here are other points to remember:

  • Images must always be 220px in size.
  • Text must always be wrapped around the image.
  • Image type must always be "Thumbnail".
  • Always add appropriate captions. The image caption is usually the image’s file name.

Image Galleries

All uploaded images must instantly be added to the character's Image Gallery. The best example of this is Takemichi Hanagaki/Image Gallery.

Image Galleries are usually arranged in the following order:

Manga

  1. Appearance
  2. Plot
  3. Volumes
  4. Color
  5. Chapter Covers

Anime

  1. Appearance
  2. Plot
  3. Promotional Materials
  4. BD/DVD

All images used in "Plot" must have a caption. Place the image under its appropriate subheading.
